EPIC RESOURCES

Epic now has a COVID-19 column that will show you a patients test status on your main home screen and patient list. Dr. Sarah Bauer from Hospital Medicine has shared with us their information for the columns on Epic and Discharge Order sets. Updated 11/27/20

On Connect, you can find resources for Epic here

PUI/Heightened Isolation Precautions

  • PUI designation is controlled and edited by Infection Control and given the high PUI census, is not always up to date
  • If a patient of yours is listed as a PUI but the COVID is negative (and negative x2 for immunocompromised patients), contact Infection Control directly (x62122) and they can remove the PUI
  • Nurses (and physicians, but this is not our responsibility) are able to discontinue the “Heightened Isolation Precaution” order within the Orders Tab once the COVID results are negative (2 negatives required for immunocompromised patients)
  • Once negative this will update the “Isolation” column
Text Box: Shows the LAST result, no matter the time frame
PUI and Heightened Isolation Precautions will appear on the left sided dashboard on your screen in epic like this.

COVID19 Patient Column

In your “My List” properties, search “COVID” and find both of these columns

This is how both columns will appear once added to your my patient list.

“Hover to discover” over the icons and it will show a positive/negative/or indeterminant (those will be yellow dots)
